Board of Missions:
Minister Claudia G. Pearson
In conjunction with stateside district missionary presidents, the Board facilitates
aid and relief to missions in and out of the United States, provides refief in times
of national disaster, sponsors a national Nissionary Convention for the uplift
and education of missionary workers.
Evangelism:
Elder Tony Smith
Coordinates the work of district evangelists, Sunday School presidents, and
Bible school directors for the teaching and preaching of the Gospel. Currently
preparing a synoptic history of the Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, setting
up a standard curriculum for Sunday Schools and Bible institutes, and
coordinating a national program for ministers and evangelists, based on the
General Assembly International Ministry Manual.
Music Ministries:
Eldress Claudette Mayes
Provides musicians and directs choirs for District and General Assembly
functions. Currently compiling a Church of Christ Disciples of Christ hymnal.
Nurses' Unit:
Sister Nancy Moses
Organizes the work of nurses who provide first aid in service and hospitality for
guests, visitors, and ministers at General Assembly functions.
Political Action:
Sister Sadie Tallie
Sets up the networking of member activists within the congregations, surveys
Church resources, and publishes position papers for the Church.
Public Relations:
Sister Emma C. Parker
Sets up the networking of member activists within the congregations, surveys
Church resources, and publishes position papers for the Church.
Department of Special Events:
Sister Albertha Shumpert
Organizes conferences for the General Assembly and, as requested, by local
districts. Currently preparing for the General Assembly and Missionary Retreat
2005.
Ushers' Convention
Sister Betty Wells
Systematizes the service and standards for the ministry of ushering at General
Assembly functions and throughout the Church at large.
Youth Ministries
Sister Helen McNeil
Spearheads activities for youth, including a Biennial Youth Retreat which
includes Biblical Studies, music and art programs, etc.
